Setting up an Online Business!

The best way to start a business online today is:

  1. Choose a niche and then specialize. Do not think that you are going to make a lot of money selling everything under the sun (unless you use Ebay, but even that is getting more and more competitive today).

2. Choose or create a product. You can use affiliate products or create your own.

3. One of the most important things to do when setting up an online business is to find a good name. It must be short, easy to remember and reflect what your business actually does. Your domain name is the name under which your online customers will remember you. A good domain name is a memorable name, short and easy to spell. There are several sites around the theme of domain names, and prices can start for less than $ 1.

4. Get your own website. Do not go for a free page on an affiliate site, but get yours. It’s a lot easier to do than you think. Get hosting (there are many companies on the web that offer their services). Then buy a template system if you can not program (again, take a look at the web and you will soon find a lot of companies offering web templates). All you have to do is start learning how to use it. However, if you are not technically interested, you will need to hire someone to handle all the technical aspects of your online business. This could include such things as building your website for you, managing your website hosting and setting up any domain name you may need.

5. Always look for a secure and reliable host service provider. It is important that you review the “availability guarantee” offered by each service provider. In addition, analyse the physical infrastructure of the place where your online business will be stored. But most importantly, you must scrutinise the backup and data security systems of hosting providers. This includes calculating the time required to reinstall your online business in the event of a complete failure of the hosting provider’s infrastructure. This will help you calculate the least possible losses for your business if such a situation arises.

6. Build a list. This is important for you to discuss repeatedly with visitors to your site. It is important to keep visitors informed of what is happening on your site. This also allows you to contact them several times about the offers you want to submit.

7. Examine how you will manage the payments made by your customers. If you sell an affiliate product, the problem will not arise because the affiliate program will manage the payments for you. However, if you sell your own product, you will need to set up your own payment processing system. We will examine this more closely in another chapter of this book.

8. Examine how you will organise the delivery of the products to your customer if you sell your own products. You have to look at the local courier companies, as well as the postal service and find out what will be the most cost effective way to send goods to customers. In addition, you will then need to decide the pricing system for sending parcels to your customers. But it is important that you choose a transportation company that you think will be reliable. Look especially at companies that offer an online tracking system.
